The King's Port Inn would like to wish everybody a happy 4th of July! We hope you spend time with you family and friends. The weather is great and the sun is shining. It's a great time for a barbecue or a family get together. We hope you enjoy your time off.
The town of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport has their annual 4th of July fireworks at Gooch's Beach on Tuesday night around 9:00 pm (at dusk). There are many places to actually see the fireworks, here are some good locations:
At Kennebunk Beach. Come early, park the car(a parking pass is required-you can rent them at the King's Port), and spend some time relaxing before the show starts around dusk. Bring your own chair or blanket and a picnic dinner. The whole beach has a party feeling. Remember: leaving may be a bit slow-going, but not as bad as you think it might be.
At St. Ann's Church on Ocean Avenue in Kennebunkport. Park along Ocean Avenue or on side streets(the police will direct you) and walk to St. Ann's, where you'll have a gorgeous panoramic view of the fireworks. This location, too, has a party feel, as hundreds gather to watch.
Another great location is the Colony Hotel and Nonantum Hotel. They both have expansive lawns which offer a great view of the fireworks. There are waterfront restaurants there where you can order a cocktail. Both are located on Ocean Avenue. Or, you can try the Arundel Wharf or Salt And Honey, both great places to view the fireworks.
The King's Port Inn has availability for the 4th of July. We have deluxe Kings for as low as $199 a night. We also have King Jacuzzi Suites for as low as $209 a night. Each room includes, free continental breakfast, free wi fi, and free parking. To make a reservation, please call us at 1-800-286-5767. We would be happy to hear from you.
Have a safe and wonderful July 4th!

The meaning of June!
The King's Port Inn is hoping everybody is enjoying th month of June! We hope you are getting out and enjoying some activities in the sun. Maybe walking, biking, going to the beach, or whatever activity suits your need. Maine is a wonderful place to be this time of year.
For the month of June, we would like to present some interesting facts:
The Latin name for June is Junius. The month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, the goddess of marriage and the wife of the supreme deity Jupiter. In ancient Rome, the period from mid-May through mid-June was considered inauspicious for marriage.
June is the sixth month of the year in the Julian and Gregorian calendars and the second month to have the length of 30 days. June contains the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the day with the most daylight hours, and the winter solstice in the Southern Hemisphere, the day with the fewest daylight hours. At the start of June, the sun rises in the constellation of Taurus; at the end of June, the sun rises in the constellation of Gemini.
There are many religious observations in the month of June: Pentecost(June 4th), Whit Monday(June 5th), Whit Tuesday(June 6th), Feast of Christ the Priest(June 8th), Feast of the Crown of Thorns(June 9th), Trinity Sunday(June 11th), Corpus Christi(June 15th), Lajkonik(June 22nd), and Feast of the Sacred Heart(June 23rd).
June is also the month of many holiday: Father's Day, National Flip Flop Day, International Men's Health Week, Great American Backyard Camp out Day, National Rocky Road Day, National Egg Day, Loving Day, Kamehameha Day(Hawaii), Flag Day, Bunker Hill Day(Massachusetts), Juneteenth Day, National Catfish Day, and many others.
The June birth flowers are the rose and the honeysuckle. A pink rose means perfect happiness, while a red rose means "I love you.". A white rose signifies innocence and purity, while a yellow rose conveys jealousy or a decrease in love. A bouquet of roses means sincere gratitude, whereas a single rose amplifies the meaning of the color. The other June flower, the honeysuckle, is a strong symbol for the everlasting bonds of love.
We hope you enjoyed these interesting facts. The King's Port Inn has availability for the month of June. We have premium king rooms for only $119 a night.
