June Fun Facts!

3. June's birthstone is the pearl. Pearls are associated with purity, honesty, and calmness. They are worn by brides on wedding day. The alternate birthstone for June is the alexandrite, a rare gem that turns from bluish green in daylight to purplish red in incandescent light.
4. In June 1880, the first public telephone pay station in the United States began operation. It was installed in the New Haven office of the Connecticut Telephone Company.
5. In June 1904, the Pulitzer Prize was established by journalist Joseph Pulitzer. It is an award given for excellence in the fields of journalism, letters and drama.
6. The official flower of June is the rose, symbolizing love, gratitude and appreciation.
7. Some famous people born in the month of June: Alan Turing, Anne Frank, David Rockefeller, Mike Tyson, Nicole Kidman, and Tom Jones.
