Columbus Day Weekend

We at the King's Port Inn hope everybody is enjoying a wonderful Columbus Day weekend. Columbus Day weekend is the unofficial close of the summer tourism season. We would like to thank all our guests who took time to say with us during the busy summer season. We have enjoyed your company and you have truly made it a great season for us. We really hope you come back and stay with us next year.
I want to take this time and tell you some interesting facts about Christopher Columbus:
1. Columbus was not the first European to visit the Americas. That distinction belongs to Norwegian Leif Ericson in the 11th century.
2. Columbus believed he had landed in the West Indies, thereby calling the native inhabitants "indios", which is Spanish for Indians.
3. Columbus was not just motivated to find a passage to the West Indies, but also wanted to preach Christianity and convert people around the world.
Most importantly, Christopher Columbus brought European attention to this new world, thereby bringing colonization, and Western Civilization. It is good and proper to celebrate this weekend in memory of his accomplishments.
We at the King's Port Inn want to wish you a wonderful Columbus Day weekend.

Autumn Is Finally Here

Autumn is a very special time for all New Englanders. It not only represents a change in the seasons, but also a change in ourselves. We no longer cling to the hot summer days, long vacations, and endless travel in a car.  But rather, we look forward to getting back to work, and the children back at school, and back to a general well-being. We take walks in the cool crisp nights of the autumn chill. We witness the beautiful changing of the foliage. The days shorten and the nights grow longer. We look forward to Halloween, football, and hot chocolate. We are blessed to experience the change of seasons in New England. It is truly a pleasant time to be here.
Among some of the activities here in Kennebunkport in the Autumn are lobster boating and whale watching. Located at the Performance marine, just behind the Pilot House, boats go out on daily excursions. Also, the Seashore Trolley Museum, located at 195 Log Cabin Road, offers the world's largest collection of trolley memorabilia. It is a must see in the area.
There are also bus tours available for booking, through Motor coach Tours, you can contact the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport chamber of commerce at 207-967-0857 for more information. A Bus tour is a delightful way to spend time in Maine.
Also, Autumn offers discounted rates at the King's Port Inn. Staring on Monday, Sept. 22, we are offering premium rooms Sunday-Thursday for only $129.00. Your choice of 2 queen beds or 1 king size bed. Included in this rate, is a very extensive continental breakfast. Our phone number is 1-800-286-5767. We really hope you join us for a wonderful autumn season.

Last Days Of Summer

With the summer coming to a close, and labor day weekend approaching us, we must remind ourselves that summer is still in our mists. The weather is great and the air is fresh and there are still many days to be enjoyed. Maine is a beautiful place to visit during this time and there are still many activities for travelers. The Kennebunk Downtown Committee is hosting a special Blues Band event on August 30th, at 1-3pm. It will be live music performed at the Kennebunk downtown plaza. Please remember to bring your own dance shoes.
Also, the town of Kennebunk will be hosting a 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Sept. 6th, at 9:00am-1:00pm. The event will take place on the Eastern Trail. More information available on the Kennebunk Chamber Of Commerce website.
The Kings Port Inn offers traditional style New England rooms with king size beds or 2 queens. We also offer a very extensive continental breakfast in the morning. You can call our reservation department at 800-286-5767. Now would be a great time to make a reservation for the last days of summer. I hope you can join us.
