November Fun Facts!

1.   The birth flower for November is the chrysanthemum.
2.   On November 2, 1769, a Spanish expedition reached San Francisco Bay, 80 years before California was settled by the gold rush "49er's".
3.   On November 2, 1889, North and South Dakota became the 39th and 40th states of the Union.
4.   On November 2, 1917, Arthur Balfour, British Foreign Secretary,  proposed settlement of Jewish  people in Palestine.
5.   On November, 6, 1869, the first intercollegiate football game was played in the U.S. between Rutgers and Princeton.
6.   On November 18, 1883, standard time began in the United States.
7.   On November 4, 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran was taken over by Iranian revolutionaries in Tehran and a group of U.S. citizens were seized as hostages.
8.   The Anglo-Saxons referred to November as the wind and bloom month because that is when they killed their animals for food.
9.   November is National Peanut Butter Lovers Month.
10. The birthstone for November is the topaz.
