The King's Port Inn would like to let everybody know about our local Farmers' Market! With the summer being here, this means fresh fruits and vegetables for everybody. All products are locally grown within the Kennebunk area. You can reconnect with the cycles of nature with spring sap peas, summer sweet corn, or crisp fall apples. Eat with the season or enjoy the variety. The Kennebunk Farmer's Market takes place every Saturday, from 8am to 1pm, rain or shine, from May 7th to November 19, 2016. It is located in the Garden Street Municipal Lot behind the former Garden Street Market, in downtown Kennebunk.
Here are some reasons to shop the Farmer's Market:
Support family farming. Family farming are becoming increasingly rare. Large agribusinesses are steadily taking over small family-own farms. Buying directly from farmers gives them a better chance in today's economy.
Variety. There is a assortment of plants, flowers, vegetables and other goodies that you might not find at the grocery store. You can also find local meats, dairy, jams and baked goods. It's a great opportunity to try something new.
Protect the environment. Food in the U.S. travels an average of 1,500 miles to get to your table. Shipping uses large amounts of natural resources, and contributes to pollution. Walking to your local market decreases this extra waste.
Know where your food comes from. Meeting and talking to farmers is a great opportunity to learn more about how food is grown, where it is grown and why. You can also ask vendors any questions you might have about their goods and how they are processed.
We at the King's Port hope you get an opportunity to visit the Farmer's market. We have rooms available through the end of August. We have premium king beds for only a $179 a night. Also, Jacuzzi suites for only $199 a night. All rooms include free continental breakfast, free wi fi, and free parking. To make a reservation, please call us at 1-800-286-5767. Thank you.
