March Events

The King's Port Inn is wishing everybody a happy March! We are still in winter, but the weather is getting a better and the day's are becoming longer. We hope the rest of your winter is enjoyable and filled with fun activities. Even though it's March, there are still a lot of events in Maine. You can bring your family and friends, and get out and do something fun! Here's a few good choices:
St. Patrick's day Parade in Portland- On Sunday, Marsh 12th, the city of Portland is hosting it's annual St. Patrick's' day Parade. Starting at 11am, there will be the usual Pipe Bands, dignitaries, and the flags of all counties of Ireland will be on display on Commercial Street. Culinary Walking Tour-On Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5th, the city of Portland is hosting a Culinary Walking Tour. Located in the Old Port, this will be the hallmark of tasting experience. Come sample coastal cuisine, classics with a twist, and food and beverage innovations. From Lobster and Crabs, to Aroostook potatoes and craft beers, this is special event for all food lovers. Skowhegan Maple Festival- On Friday and Saturday, March 24th and 25th, come celebrate Somerset's County's status as the top maple-producing county in the United States. This event offers fun activities and events of all ages, with a talent show, pancake breakfast, marshmallow roasting, a scavenger hunt, food tasting, and more. This Festival leads up to Maine Maple Sunday where sugar houses around the state open their doors to the public offering free maple syrup sample and demonstrations on how pure Maine maple syrup is made. Spring Festival at Sunday River Ski Resort-On Friday and Saturday, March 31th and April 1st, Sunday River is hosting a Spring Festival in Newry, Maine. It is a celebration of the warmer weather while skiing is still plentiful. There will be live music, food and many activities.
