The King's Port Inn would like to wish everybody a happy Christmas Prelude! This is the 36th Annual Christmas Prelude, and it's the perfect opportunity for visitors to get into the festive mood of the season. The Kennebunkport Christmas Prelude was selected the #2 Christmas town in America by HGTV!
It all began way back in 1981, when a group of Dock Square merchants gathered around the monument in Kennebunkport singing Christmas carols as a way to say thank you to their loyal customers. From this humble beginning, Christmas Prelude has evolved into a major destination event for celebrating Christmas. This year's Prelude takes place from Thursday, November 30, to Sunday, December 10. The elaborate eleven-day gala festival is presented by the Kennebunkport Business Association.
It begins with tree lighting ceremonies in Dock Square, Cape Porpoise and Lower Village. There is Christmas caroling which lifts up the Christmas spirit along with a candlelight procession to the Franciscan Monastery. Also, fireworks will be on display on the the final night over the Kennebunk River basin. Other events include: public breakfasts and suppers, arts and crafts exhibits, bonfires, trips on trolley cars, boat rides, book signings, concerts and karaoke. Plus, there's a reception and tours at the historic White Columns building and open house visits of historic inns.
The King's Port Inn has availability during the week between the two Christmas prelude weekends. Sunday through Thursday, we have premium King rooms for only $89 a night. We also have Royal King Jacuzzi Suites for only $109 a night. Each room includes a free continental breakfast, free wi fi, and free parking. We are located on the corner of Rt. 9 and Rt. 35, just minutes from downtown Kennebunkport. To make a reservation, please call us at 1-800-286-5767.
We hope you have a happy Christmas Prelude!
